COMPULSORY PROFESSIONAL AND HYGIENE COURSE
THE NEW TATTOOING ACT REQUIRES COSMETIC TATTOO ARTISTS TO COMPLETE A PROFESSIONAL COURSE DETERMINED BY AN INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION AND A STATUTORY HYGIENE COURSE BEFORE JULY 1, 2022.
After 1 July 2022, you can still apply for an exemption:
Section 16 of the executive order states that cosmetic tattoo artists employed at or associated with a registered tattoo place, including citizens from the EU or other countries, who can demonstrate to the National Safety Agency (Sikkerhedsstyrelsen) that they have competences corresponding to the requirements of this executive order, can carry out cosmetic tattooing for commercial purposes.
Illegal dispensations (You should be aware of this)
Dispensations issued by an approved trade association AFTER 1 July 2022 are not valid and one therefore performs illegal Cosmetic Tattooing.
This means that dispensation can still be granted on the basis of a concrete assessment from the National Safety Agency (Sikkerhedsstyrelsen)
In order to apply to the Danish Safety Agency for exemption, you must have the following courses and certificates:
- Documentation that you have completed an education
(e.g. in another country) with competences corresponding to the requirements in the order and have experience as a cosmetic tattoo artist in the form of certificate(s) for your education and how long you have worked as a cosmetic tattoo artist.
We can assess whether your education and documents meet the requirements for exemption.
- Mandatory hygiene course
- Compulsory professional course
prepared and approved by the "Branch association for medical and cosmetic practitioners and educational institutions" which certifies you to "perform cosmetic tattooing of eyebrows, scalp, upper and lower eyelids and lips".
You can then apply to the National Safety Agency (Sikkerhedsstyrelsen) for a dispensation.
